These are some of the paintings I've done over the years in both acrylic and oil:

I did this horse in acrylics when I was about 13. I was obsessed with horses at that age, and spent one summer doing nothing but painting them.

Another horse I did when in acrylics I was 13. Whenever I look at it, it always reminds me of what late fall in Kentucky feels like.

This is one of the first paintings I did when I started using oil paints. I did this cat when I was 15.

This was one of the first horse paintings I did when I started working with oil paints. I was about 15 when I did this.

I did this painting much later, when I was about 21, in oils. It's a study of a Henri Rousseau painting.
I loved loved his work, and wondered how he was able to make each of his leaves look so fleshy and dreamy.
So I spent an entire summer studying his painting leaf by leaf.
When I finished, I added a cat and some flowers to it to make it not look exactly the same.

(This isn't a painting of me) I did this painting a few years ago as a possible cover for a book I was writing at the time(the girl in the painting was the main character in the story).
The plant "necklace" was modeled after a vanilla orchid vine I have.

This painting is of the Brown familys' cat Buffy, who is a gigantic sand-colored kitty who seems to consist mostly of fur.
I painted Buffy with daffodils because the Browns have a spectacular garden filled with daffodils in the spring.

I painted this large canvas over a two week visit to my mom's house in KY.
I painted it for the Browns, who have been so kind to me over these many years.
It was actually still wet when I gave it to them, but my visit was ending, and the last oil paint
I'd used hadn't had time to dry yet. They were very sweet about it, though.
